“How often should I blog to be successful?” is a question I get asked all the time. It sounds like a great question… but in 2025 that’s just not how things work.
The real secret to growing a blog quickly in 2025 is not about finding the perfect schedule, but rather it’s about writing as many high-quality blog posts as possible in the early days of your blog.
Gone are the times when publishing one post a week was enough to build momentum. With the competitive blogging landscape of 2025, it is likely to take YEARS to build a profitable blog sticking to that strategy. Instead, the fastest way to see success is to create a large volume of content upfront.
In fact, if you look at my Blogging Income Survey, you’ll see that most bloggers only start to see full-time earnings after they’ve published at least 100 posts. So, the best thing you can do to fast-track your success is to bash those posts out as quickly as possible.
Here’s how to do it…
Step 1: Get the basics right first
Before diving into content creation, make sure the foundations of your blog are in place:
- Choose a profitable niche: Make sure your niche has sufficient demand, low-ish competition and good monetization potential. Here’s how >> How to choose a profitable niche in 2025
- Choose a domain name: Opt for something relevant but not too restrictive. Here’s how >> How to choose the perfect blog name
- Get hosting: Use a reliable hosting service to ensure your blog runs smoothly.
- Pick a theme: Don’t overthink this. Choose a clean, simple design for now; you can tweak it later.
- Write your core pages: Create your About Me page, Contact Me page, and Privacy Policy.
Do not spend too long over these initial steps. Getting these steps out of the way quickly will let you focus on what really matters: creating content.
Step 2: Learn the Basics of SEO and keyword research
If you’re not familiar with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and keyword research, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Without these skills, you’ll waste time writing posts that no one is searching for or that you’ll never rank for because of high competition.
Here’s what to do:
- Learn the SEO basics: Understand how search engines work and how to optimize your content for them. Read my beginner’s guide to SEO.
- Focus on topical authority: Building topical authority is the fastest way to grow your blog. Here’s how >>> How to use topical authority to boost your Google rankings and grow your blog traffic in 2025
- Keyword research: Find low-competition keywords that you can realistically rank for. Use tools like KeySearch to identify these opportunities. Learn more about keyword research here >> How to use KeySearch for keyword research: step-by-step tutorial
- Target 100 keywords: Find 100 low-competition keywords to target initially. Since, on average, it takes 100 blog posts before you will start earning a decent income from your blog, it makes sense to identify these and write them as fast as possible.
Step 3: Write your first 30 blog posts as fast as you can
Now it’s time to dive into content creation. The goal here is speed, not perfection. Your first 30 blog posts will lay the foundation for your blog’s growth.
- Set a goal: Aim to write 30 posts in 30 days, targeting your best keywords first. This is the best way to fast-track your blog’s growth in the early days. If you need help staying on track, my 30 Day Blog Traffic Booster Challenge is a great way to get additional structure and support.
- Focus on quality: Speed doesn’t mean sacrificing quality. Your posts should still be helpful, engaging, and genuinely valuable to your intended readers. Here’s how >>> How to write high quality blog posts that rank (according to Google)
- Write quickly: Don’t obsess over every word. Write as fast as you can. Don’t edit as you write, or you’ll slow yourself down. Edit only AFTER you’ve finished your first draft. Batch similar tasks (e.g. writing outlines all at once). Set aside dedicated writing time every day and stay focused – don’t allow yourself to get distracted by Netflix or household chores when you should be writing!

Step 4: Optimize your posts and start promoting them
Once you’ve written your first 30 posts, take a break from content creation to focus on:
- SEO: Revisit your posts and ensure they’re optimized for the low-competition keywords you’ve targeted. Learn how >>> How to use the Yoast SEO plugin to optimize a blog post
- Email marketing: Start building your email list. Sign up for an email service provider (I recommend Kit), create a lead magnet, and add opt-in boxes to all your blog posts. Then, start sending a simple weekly newsletter to engage your audience. READ MORE >>> A beginner’s guide to email marketing for bloggers + free challenge
- Affiliate marketing: Join affiliate programs and add relevant affiliate links to your posts. This is a great way to start monetizing early. READ MORE >>> A beginner’s guide to affiliate marketing for bloggers
- Social media: Use Pinterest and one other platform to drive traffic to your blog. Pinterest, in particular, can be a goldmine for blog traffic. READ MORE >>> A beginner’s guide to Pinterest for bloggers
Step 5: Review your keyword research and go again
After your break, revisit your keyword research. You are likely to have a clearer idea of your niche and your content direction now that you’ve published some posts.
You might also want to lean into blog post topics that are really working for you. And you might also want to add in some blog posts designed to promote your affiliate links.
- Refine your keywords: Consider doing some additional keyword research to find even better opportunities and lean into blog post topics that are really working for you right now.
- Do affiliate product keyword research: Do some keyword research around the products you are now an affiliate for. Can you identify some promising blog post titles? If so, add them to your list of keywords to target. READ MORE >>> 19 easy ways to increase your affiliate income from your blog
- Rework your content plan: Take a look at the keywords you are now planning to target and reorder them with the most promising keywords at the top. Aim to work down the list from top to bottom in order to maximise traffic potential.
- Set a new goal: Aim to write another 30 posts as quickly as you can manage. If you’re up for it, do another 30 posts in 30 days challenge.
Step 6: Take a break to focus on digital products
Once you’ve published 60 posts, it’s time to take a break from content creation in order to diversify your income streams. Hands down the most lucrative monetization method for a blog in 2025 is digital products, so that’s what I recommend you focus on next.
- Create your product: I recommend you start with an ebook and follow this step by step plan: How to create and sell your first ebook: a 10 step plan for success!
- Launch your product: Promote ebook to your audience. I recommend offering a limited time launch discount to maximize sales.
- Set up an evergreen funnel: Set up a simple ‘set it and forget it’ funnel to sell your product passively while you continue writing blog posts.

Step 7: Write your remaining posts to reach 100
Keep writing until you hit 100 posts and aim to get there as fast as possible!
Step 8: Add another revenue stream
At this point, you’ll likely have sufficient traffic to be eligible for a well-paying ad management company, like Mediavine Journey.
Alternatively, you may want to consider creating and launching another digital product, this time a higher priced one, such as an online course.

Step 9: Shift to a more relaxed blogging schedule
Once you’ve reached 100 posts, you can ease up on content creation.
From now on, posting once a week is likely to be enough to sustain your growth while freeing up more time in your calendar to focus on other aspects of your business.
You will also need to do some more keyword research in order to identify the keywords you will target next.
I recommend you find another 100 keywords, rank them in order from most to least traffic potential, then aim to write at least 50 over the next year.
The good news is that now you are more established, you will likely be able to go after more competitive keywords!
Step 10: What next?
At this point in your journey, you may want to revisit some of your earliest blog posts and look for ways to improve them.
You may also want to take another look at your blog’s design and structure, now you have a better idea of what you are doing and a better idea of your content direction.
Now might also be a good time to work on improving your affiliate marketing strategy, and apply to more affiliate programs order to maximize your affiliate marketing income.
And finally, at this stage, you might also want to consider branching out into other sub-areas of your niche and building up topical authority in areas which are adjacent to those you already have good topical authority in.
Conclusion: “How often should I blog to be successful?” is the wrong question
The key to blogging success in 2025 isn’t about how often you post, but rather it’s about how quickly you can build topical authority and a solid content foundation. Writing as many posts as possible in your blog’s early days will fast-track your growth and profitability.
Remember to take regular breaks from writing to focus on SEO, email marketing, affiliate marketing, and product creation. This balanced approach will set you up for long-term success.
And, don’t overthink it. Start bashing out those blog posts, and you’ll be on your way to a successful blogging business in no time.
