I may get paid commission for purchases made after clicking a link in this post.
Wondering what to buy a blogger in your life for Christmas? Or are you a blogger who would like a ‘done for you’ list of Christmas present ideas to give to family and friends? Here’s what to buy a blogger for Christmas…
Do you have a special blogger in your life? And are you wondering what to buy them for Christmas this year? Then wonder no more. I have compiled a massive list of Christmas present ideas that real bloggers really want!
These are not just my ideas. When I started planning this list, I did a call out in my Productive Blogging Community asking for present ideas from all the wonderful bloggers in that group and got a MASSIVE response…
I’ve carefully compiled and organised that list, as well as adding a few ideas and recommendations of my own to bring you a wealth of ideas, at a whole range of price points, to make your favourite blogger’s Christmas wishes come true…
Or alternatively, maybe you are a blogger yourself. I don’t know about you, but I find it really tough to come up with ideas when someone asks me ‘what would you like for Christmas?’
Well, now you can give them this ‘done for you’ list of perfect Christmas presents for bloggers, so they know just what to buy for you this year!
Here’s what to buy a blogger for Christmas 2024…
Stationery
Stationery was a MASSIVE theme in the responses I got from bloggers in the Productive Blogging Community. I think it’s fairly safe to say that Bloggers LOVE stationery!
Planners
Top of most bloggers wishlists is a decent planner. I love the look of this Busy Life Planner* which has separate sides for work and life. Many bloggers have busy lives juggling not only their blogs but home life too… this planner allows you to see both blogging and the rest of life in the same place.
If you want to step things up a gear then I can really recommend the PowerSheets Planner, which I have personally used. This is more than just a place to record everything you need to do. This planner gets you to really think about your goals and dreams and then helps you to break those goals down into manageable tasks and to dos. It helps you track how you are doing via a ‘tending list’ where you record progress on your goals to keep you motivated.
Another suggestion from the group was the Passion Planner, which is an appointment calendar, goal setting guide, journal, sketchbook and gratitude log, plus personal and work to-do lists all in one!
I also love the look of the look of the Legend Hourly Planner*, which features daily schedules broken down into half hour slots, so you can use time-blocking and view appointments all one place. It also features yearly and monthly planning, as well as stickers, bookmarks, goal-setting and habit tracking… everything you need to have a super productive 2024!
Notebooks
Another one high on bloggers’ wishlists is notebooks! And I am not surprised – I use notebooks all the time: for taking notes at conferences or while watching a webinar or online course, for planning out blogging projects, for brainstorming content ideas and much, much more.
Amazon have a great selection of notebooks to choose from*, of course. I especially love these Pukka Project Pads* as they have dividers to keep different categories of notes separate.
And when out and about, I love these Kraft Paper Pads* which have a built in pen and sticky notes.
Another suggestion from the group was a Rocketbook Everlast*, which allows you to hand write notes and upload them to the Rocketbook app on your phone to have them available digitally in future without having to carry around a big notepad!
This one also made me smile…
Post it notes
Post it notes are always handy for jotting down ideas, sticking on your computer to remind you to do something important or bookmarking pages in notebooks, planners and books.
Amazon have a vast array of post it notes*, but I particularly love this colourful set* which has lots of sticky notes in a variety of shapes and sizes…
Aqua notes
Many of us bloggers find that our best ideas strike in the shower… and by the time we are dry and able to jot those ideas down… we’ve forgotten that genius idea! So you can imagine my delight when I found these AquaNotes, which allow you to jot down your sudden inspirations actually while you are still in the shower or bath!
Pens and Pencils
And, of course, pens, pencils, highlighters etc. are always welcome.
I am a HUGE fan of highlighters but I never have enough colours, so this bumper set of highlighters* is high on my list!
Books
Another category of presents that was high on many bloggers lists was books!
Here are some of my top recommendations for books that are perfect for the blogger in your life…
(Yep, I own and have read ALL of these books!)
Books about photography
- Plate to Pixel* (food photography)
- Food Photography: From Snapshots to Great Shots*
- Canon EOS 77D for Dummies* (there is one of these for most camera models)
- Photography for writers*
Books about Blogging / online business
- Superfans*
- Ask*
- Published*
- Dotcom Secrets*
- Hooked*
- The Gap And The Gain*
- Who Not How*
- Who Moved My Cheese?*
- 10x Is Easier Than 2x*
- Launch*
- Cashvertising*
Books about Productivity
- Eat That Frog*
- How to be a Productivity Ninja*
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People*
- Do It Tomorrow*
- Getting Things Done*
- The Pomodoro Technique*
- The One Thing*
- The Miracle Morning*
- The Productivity Project*
- 168 Hours*
- Indistractable*
- The Power Of Less*
- Atomic Habits*
- The Compound Effect*
- Willpower Doesn’t Work*
- Deep Work*
- The Big Leap*
Computer equipment and gadgets
Computer equipment and other electronic gadgets are a hugely important part of every blogger’s everyday life, so it was no surprise that lots of presents in this category featured on bloggers’ wishlists…
Bluetooth headphones
Bluetooth earphones* are great for enabling bloggers to listen to blogging podcasts, webinars and courses hands free.
Wireless speaker
Another great option for listening to blogging podcasts hands free is a wireless speaker. I have this one from Anker*. I use it all the time and I love it as it enables me to listen to blogging podcasts while doing housework, cooking dinner and any other mundane task – thus making the best use of otherwise dead time.
Portable battery
A blogger can never have too many portable batteries! When bloggers go to events, conferences and sponsored trips they need to do A LOT of social media which eats the built-in batteries in smartphones up like crazy. I always take at least one of these on any blogging related trip to ensure I don’t run out of battery!
I like these ones from Anker* as they are small enough to pop into my handbag.
Noise cancelling headphones
Soooo much blogging work requires full concentration, which can be pretty hard when you work from home and you are constantly distracted by the noise of family members / pets / TVs and radios in other rooms etc. These noise cancelling headphones* would make a great gift for any blogger who wants to block out all the noise and distractions and fully focus on the task in hand!
Large monitor
A huge bonus for any blogger, but especially those bloggers who regularly edit photographs and videos, is a large monitor with a high definition screen and accurate colours. I have this one from Dell* but there are a ton of other options on Amazon* to choose from covering a large range of different price points.
Laptop
An essential for every blogger is a good laptop. If the blogger in your life has been moaning lately that their laptop is old, doesn’t have enough memory or just isn’t up to the job (and your pockets are deep!) then this will definitely get you into their good books!
My preferred laptop is the DELL XPS 15 inch 9520*, which has a nice big HD screen and a ton of storage, while being slimline and lightweight (and it looks good too!)
If the blogger in your life is more of an Apple person (and your pockets are even deeper!) then why not splash out on a Macbook Pro*?
Photography and Video Equipment
When I asked in the Productive Blogging Community group for ideas for Christmas presents for bloggers, photography equipment was mentioned most frequently!
Top of the list for bloggers are:
A decent camera
To take good photos these days you really need a DSLR camera. If the blogger in your life doesn’t yet have a DSLR then getting one of these will certainly earn you brownie points!
The two main brands to look out for are Canon and Nikon. I have an entry level Canon*, which still does a great job for me – in fact, even though I now have a more expensive camera, I rarely use it for photography as I still prefer my original one. (I only use my more expensive Canon* for videography!) You can get a similar entry level camera from Nikon* too.
Tripod and C stand
Tripods and C stands are essential bits of photography kit for bloggers. My preferred tripod is the Vanguard Alta Pro*, which can also be used for some overhead shots.
But if the blogger in you life is going to be doing a lot of overhead shots and overhead videos, then they probably want a C stand. Be careful to get a good sturdy one though as the cheaper ones have a tendency to fall over (not great when you have an expensive camera attached to it!) This super heavy duty one* was recommended in the Productive Blogging Community.
Camera lenses
A DSLR camera is no good without a decent lens. The best all round lens for most bloggers is a 50mm fixed lens*. Though most bloggers in my group already have one of these, so high up on their wishlists were either a 100mm fixed lens* or a 24-105mm zoom lens*.
Lighting
Another huge request on the Productive Blogging Community’s wishlist was lighting kit*, so they can still take photos and record videos even when the natural light is not good (or non-existent – many bloggers find their main time for blogging is in the evening!).
If the blogger in your life does ‘face to camera’ videos, then a ring light* is a must.
Photography Backdrops
This was one of the top replies when I asked for suggestions from the group. So many people said they wanted more photography backdrops!
I can recommend both Capture By Lucy Backdrops and Photo Boards for great wipe clean and durable photography backdrops!
Backpack for photography kit
And finally – all that kit has to be transported to outdoor photoshoots, client events and trips, conferences etc. If the blogger in your life doesn’t yet have a backpack that can take all their kit, they almost certainly need one. I can really recommend this Caden camera backpack* – it’s sturdy, looks great, has space for multiple cameras and lenses AND a pocket in the back for a 15inch laptop too!
Props
Quite a few of the bloggers in the Productive Blogging Community are food bloggers and by far and away the thing they most wanted was props for food photography. This is the list they gave me…
- old / non-reflective cutlery
- napkins,
- nice wooden chopping boards
- trays
- tea towels
- second-hand matt serving spoons and teaspoons
- matt finish pottery bowls and plates
- appetizer board
- tea towels
- white/ marble plates
- cast iron skillet
- aprons
All of these things can be obtained from normal high street shops, Amazon*, second-hand shops, craft fairs etc. But if you are looking for something a little bit different, do check out my blogging friend Angela Entwistle’s amazing Yorkshire Ceramics. A food blogger turned potter, Angela knows just what food bloggers really need and makes the most lovely and totally unique food blogging props!
Another big requirement for food bloggers who want to do overhead ‘Tasty style’ food videos is an electric single hob. This electriQ Portable Induction Hob* was recommended in the group.
Subscriptions
Another thing that bloggers really need is subscriptions to various apps and software to keep their bloggy business running smoothly.
Top on the wishlist are:
Office 365 (for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive)
Xero (accountancy software to help bloggers do their books)
Lightroom (for editing photos)
ScreenPal (formerly Screencast-O-Matic)* (for recording and editing videos)
CoSchedule* (for managing blog post and social media calendars, social media automation and task management)
Courses
Another thing on most bloggers’ wishlists is courses!
You may need to do some extra sleuthing for the exact course the blogger in your life has their eye on, but popular courses for bloggers are photography and videography courses (such as Lightroom Magic and Artificial Academy, which have been recommended in the group).
Many of the food bloggers in my group also mentioned that they would love a cookery course for Christmas.
And of course, what all bloggers want is MORE TRAFFIC! I couldn’t talk about courses without mentioning my own course SEO Jumpstart, which helps bloggers grow their blog traffic (and income!) by getting more of their blog posts on page one of Google!
(I also have a whole range of other courses and ebooks covering other aspects of blogging such as email marketing, online courses, evergreen sales funnels and more. You can check them all out here >>> Productive Blogging Courses)
Coffee!!! (and tea)
Bloggers drink A LOT of coffee (and/or tea in some cases!). Here are some coffee related presents you could get the blogger in your life…
Mugs
There are some super cute blogging mugs available which would make lovely stocking fillers. For example this Little Miss Blogger mug…
This This is what an awesome blogger looks like* mug…
Or this blogger rate card* mug…
Coffee Machine
Or why not go the whole hog and get a coffee machine? I love my Nespresso Vertuo*! Buy some matching cups and coffee pods to go with it and you have a cracking present for the coffee-loving blogger in your life.
Box of teas
If the blogger in your life is more of a tea person, then why not get them a set of different teas, like this beautiful boxed set of Pukka teas*
Or this boxed set of Taylors of Harrogate Tea*
Coffee Shop Vouchers
Even better than the gift of coffee is the gift of coffee, cake and a café trip! Many bloggers love to work in cafés and so a coffee shop gift card would make an ideal present for your favourite blogger.
More hours in the day!
And last, but by no means least is TIME. What nearly all bloggers want is more hours in the day. And while I know that creating more hours in the day is something that not even Santa and his elves can do, there are a few creative ways that you still can give the gift of time.
For example, if the blogger is your significant other, why not create some cute vouchers giving them a Saturday free to blog (while you take care of the house/errands/children/pets etc.)?
If the blogger is a friend, could you offer a few hours babysitting to enable him/her to have some extra hours to work?
Or, if budget will allow, perhaps you could even pay for a VA (Virtual Assistant) for a few hours every week. (Or maybe offer to help out yourself if you have skills that could be useful!)
